Overall, my experiences with Kobalt&#8217;s gear have been really positive. Indeed, I reviewed their 40V Max leaf blower (KLB 1040A-03) and was impressed with its performance and design. It was an excellent lightweight consumer-grade solution. This time, I&#8217;m diving into the Kobalt 80V Max leaf blower (KHB 2580-06).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While I haven&#8217;t put this one to the test yet, the specs make this model a tool that I think warrants consideration. So, let&#8217;s see what it can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kobalt-80v-max-leaf-blower-performance\">Kobalt 80V Max Leaf Blower Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving the 2580 is a high-efficiency brushless motor and Kobalt&#8217;s 80V Max 2.5Ah battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a handheld unit, this blower is rather powerful. Specifically, we&#8217;re talking about blowing forces of up to 140 miles per hour and 630 CFM. I&#8217;m a CFM guy, so I was pleased with this number.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/opereviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/03\/kobalt-blower-_1.jpg\" alt=\"kobalt 80V max leaf blower\" class=\"wp-image-67381\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-specs\">Specs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Model: Kobalt KHB 2580-06<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Battery: 80V (2.5Ah)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/brushed-vs-brushless-motors\/\">Brushless motor<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blowing force: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/leaf-blower-cfmvs-mph\/\">140 mph; 630 CFM<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weight: 8.9 lbs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While I&#8217;m curious how many Newtons this thing generates, velocity and volume tell a good portion of the Kobalt 80V Max leaf blower&#8217;s story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although 140 mph isn&#8217;t bad at all, other handheld blowers surpass that by some 30 mph. Sure, it should remove wet debris, but you might have to make a few passes to effectively finish the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the 80V Max blower&#8217;s 630 CFM rating is another matter; I think this is the 2580&#8217;s true selling point. This will provide ample volume. That means you&#8217;ll be able to cover wide swaths of ground, allowing you to get more done in a shorter period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That, combined with a 75-minute runtime, gives you a solid outdoor cleanup unit for roughly a quarter of an acre. (That&#8217;s Kobalt&#8217;s estimate. I think it&#8217;ll do a little more, especially if you have a backup battery.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kobalt-80v-leaf-blower-design\">Kobalt 80V Leaf Blower Design<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"737\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Kobalt-80v-max-blower_1.jpg\" alt=\"kobalt KHB 2580-06\" class=\"wp-image-163552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Kobalt-80v-max-blower_1.jpg 737w, https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Kobalt-80v-max-blower_1-300x244.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Kobalt-80v-max-blower_1-650x529.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>When it comes to design, it&#8217;s the KHB 2580-06&#8217;s weight that stands out. Again, this was my favorite thing about its 40V relative, the 1040. I was thrilled with the feel and maneuverability of the latter. That said, the Kobalt 80V Max blower is roughly 4 pounds lighter, so I expect that these factors will be even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my opinion, this will likely prove to be an ideal handheld tool, even for residential users with more challenging needs. If you push this unit to its 75-minute runtime limit, your arm likely won&#8217;t be feeling it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And there are still other mentionables with this model. For example, the variable speed trigger and cruise control dial will help make this tool more comfortable and easier to use.
